2024 Listen To What You Love

I love music. It has a way of seeping into your soul like nothing else. My husband, kids and I have so many memories around music. We will have stories and the foundation is love but the very next level is music. They will say “this song reminds me of that time we…..” and nothing has made me more proud of how we raised them.

When my daughter first introduced her husband to us she says, “mom he doesn’t like music in the way we do so DO NOT JUDGE him for it.” I literally laughed out loud. She knew I would wonder what was wrong with someone who doesn’t love music the way we do.

Each one of my kids own a record player and we, as a family, could fill a room with our record collections. Each one of my children have different tastes in music. As a mother, I can’t tell you the pride I have felt knowing that each of them took their own path. There is a metaphor in that somewhere.

I remember the moment I knew I loved my husband. He picked me up from work and I sat down in his car, the music was blasting Bohemian Rhapsody, and he was signing it word for word. I knew he was the man for me.

Anyway, music inspires me. I know a lot of you feel the same way. I have shared playlists with you all before and I have received messages asking me to share a new playlist.

My gift to you all this year is that I have started a playlist and every month i will add music to this playlist. I have very eclectic style in music mostly because my family shares what they love but I also do not like being in a box. Before you listen I need you to be warned, it might get weird but it might also be lovely. There might be another metaphor there too.

Creativity has always been a large part of my life. I believe that everyone is a creative, some people just have not discovered their passion yet. My goal is to share the message, “Go Forth and Create!”

Mixed media is my love. I thrive on the freedom of working in any medium I want and combining watercolor, ink, acrylics, fabrics-everything is fair game.

Living in Alaska, I am surrounded by beauty. I find the scenery and the people equally inspiring. the world is endlessly providing inspiration and my mission is to take full advantage. My favorites include color, nature, family, books, people and so much more.
