Love and Kindness Event
A Pause for Love & Kindness
Lately, the world has felt loud.
The news cycles move fast, emotions run high, and it can feel like there’s very little space to simply be—to breathe, to soften, to rest our nervous systems and our hearts.
That’s what inspired this gathering.
My friend Michelle Black and I wanted to create a gentle pause.
Not a space for fixing or debating or figuring anything out—but a place to return to love and kindness, even if just for a few minutes.
We gathered for a short meditation, allowing ourselves to settle into the body and come back to the heart. From there, we opened our journals—not to analyze the world, but to listen inward. To notice what love feels like when we slow down enough to touch it. To explore kindness as something we practice quietly, moment by moment.
This kind of journaling isn’t about getting it “right.”
It’s about letting the pen move without pressure.
It’s about writing from the heart instead of the head.
Sometimes that looks like words. Sometimes it looks like repetition, a list, a single sentence, or even just sitting with the page.
What mattered most was the intention.
We wrote with the idea of sending light outward—toward ourselves, toward others, toward places that feel heavy right now. Not carrying the weight of the world, but offering love without conditions or expectations.
These small moments matter.
When we tend to love and kindness within ourselves, it doesn’t stop there. It ripples outward in ways we may never fully see—in our conversations, our patience, our creativity, and the way we move through our days.
This gathering was a reminder that we don’t need to wait for the world to feel calm in order to create calm within ourselves. We can choose to pause. We can choose to soften. We can choose love, again and again.
And when the world feels loud, we can always return to the page.
